Thank you for a wonderful year together. Your students have blessed my heart this year! As it was my first year here at OCSI, thank you for your grace and patience with me as I learned. I am grateful to have had each one of your students in my class. They will always hold a special place in my heart as my very first class. Have a fantastic summer! Don't forget to say hi next door to your old 2nd grade teacher next year! :) Here is the slideshow video from the pictures and a few videos throughout the school year. You can only access this through this link below: Also here are couple of the photos from the last days of school. We also created bubble wands out of pipe cleaners and tested them! Have a wonderful summer!! Can't believe we only have 2.5 more days left! Your kids are almost 3rd graders! Here is a look at our week: Reading: We've continued reading from the chapter book The Year of Billy Miller and also read a few fun read alouds: A Piglet Named Mercy and Finding Winnie. Writing: To end the year, the students have been working hard at creating their own Twisted Fairy Tale story. They have loved creating their own characters and putting a twist on well known fairy tales. Math: We finished up our chapter on shapes and fractions and took our test. Then we reviewed all that we learned in math this year to prepare for our end of the year math test that we will take on Monday.
Bible: We continued learning about the Fruits of the Spirit. We learned this week that: Patience = I will wait without complaining Kindness = I will be nice to everyone Goodness = I will do what is right Faithfulness = I will not quit Important Information: 1.) Next week is our last week of school! I will be sending home all our leftover supplies throughout the week. Please make sure your child empties his/her backpack each evening to make more space for the items sent home. 2.) Please come join us for our end of the year party on Wednesday anytime you are available from 11:00-12:30. Awards, slideshow, and gifts will be given out then from me! Mrs. Lyons Here is a look at our week: Reading: We continued reading from our chapter book The Year of Billy Miller. Writing: We worked on writing an informational paper on a solid or liquid. Students chose a solid or liquid they knew a lot about and worked on describing aspects of that solid or liquid using their senses. Math: We finished up our chapter in Math on shapes and fractions. We talked about how to partition a shape into equal parts and the area of shapes. We also did a fun craft on Friday using different shapes as toppings to put on our taco. Bible: We talked about joy and peace this week. Joy: I will be content with what I have. Peace: I will not be afraid because I trust God. I mixed baking soda with vinegar to demonstrate the overflowing joy of the Lord and the students loved seeing the cup bubble over. Science: We performed an experiment this week mixing different types of liquids with water to see how they react. Some liquids mix right together and others layer like oil and corn syrup. Thank you again for those who have brought in items this year to help us perform these experiments. It has been a huge help and some of these science experiments have been a highlight for them.
