Happy end of first full week! Here is a look at our week:
Reading: We continued working toward our goal of reading to ourselves for 20 minutes straight. We made it to 15 minutes, but are still working on those last 5 minutes. We also learned how to pick good fit books. We will begin checking out library books next week. Writing: We learned what writing will look and sound like. We practiced moving our rotations and how to problem solve while writing if the teacher is working in small groups with other students. We came up with some ideas for stories and began a story about if they were stuck at the school all night, what would happen. Math: We have been reviewing our addition strategies. We reviewed how to make a 10, use doubles, and solve word problems. Bible: We learned that God is the creator of all things. (Ask your kids about the creation song and they should know each day of creation :). We talked about how we are made in the image of God. We also talked about the Fall and how sin entered the world. Science: We had our first science class this week. We learned that scientists ask questions and make hypotheses to test. We did a little experiment testing to see which cookies floated in milk. Important Information: 1. No school on Monday (9/2)! 2. Bible Verse for the month of September: "But here is how God has shown his love for us. While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." (Romans 5:8) 3. Field Trip coming up in October. More Information coming soon!!
