IMPORTANT UPDATE: 1.) Please check your email for an important update from Mrs. Roe regarding school. We WILL have school on Monday (3/30), but then we will start Spring Break early on Tuesday (3/31). We will come back to school on April 13th. We encourage you to practice social distancing during this time. Although I am sad we won't be having school, I am grateful we are taking precautions to help keep our families and community safe. 2.) Field Trip to Aquarium CANCELED: With a sad heart, I must announce that the field trip to the Churaumi Aquarium has been CANCELED due to the current measures to keep our community safe. We are trying to figure out another field trip option that involves being outside. I will let you know as soon as I can! 3.) As said last week, Kid City will be moving to April 24th. More information will be coming after Spring Break. On April 21st from 3:15-4:15 we will have some time to get ready for Kid City. If you are able to come and help us with gluing, sorting, and other preparations please let me know by email! 4.) Scholastic Book Orders: If you would like to order some books, go to http://world-schools.scholastic.co.uk/okinawa-christian-school-intl to browse the latest books and order online. Make sure the order is under 2.2 Lyons to help our class earn reward points. Please place your order online by April 3rd, 2020. Upcoming Events: 3/31-4/12: Spring Break 4/13: 4th Quarter Begins 4/17: Field Trip to the Aquarium CANCELED 4/24: Kid City 5/4: No School 5/8: Field Day 5/25: No School- Memorial Day 6/10: Last Day of School (Early Dismissal @12:30pm!) Here is a look at our week: We did still have a fun full week of school and ended it with a popcorn movie party for our Reading Olympic Prize today! They got to watch Snoopy and Charlie Brown: The Peanuts Movie and eat popcorn! It was great fun! Reading: We learned about Text Features. These are special parts of nonfiction books that help us find important information.
Writing: We started writing Nominations for our favorite books. Next week we will ask Miss Turner to pick the best Nominations and that book will win an award. Math: We learned our 3D shapes this week and how many edges, faces, and vertices each one has. We even had fun creating 3D shapes out of paper! Students realized they had to be very exact with their measurements for their shape to work! Bible: We learned about Jesus dying on the cross for our sins. We learned that Jesus died because He loves us and so that we could be with God again. Have a great weekend! See you on Monday for one last day before break! Mrs. Lyons Comments are closed.
