Thank you to all the parents who came out to parent teacher conferences. It was great to meet you and talk with you about your student's progress! Here is a look at this past week of learning! Reading: This week we learned about Word Work during Daily 5, continuing to build our vocabulary and spelling of different words. They will get to do Word Work once every week as extra practice. Writing: We finished up our Narrative stories this week and made a beautiful final draft of our favorite story. The students did a great job working on narratives all quarter! Math: We finished up chapter 3 of Math learning all about two-digit addition and regrouping. We took our test on Thursday, and will launch into chapter 4 next week! Science: We continued to learn about how plants change and grow. We learned about the plant life cycle, watched some videos of plants growing in fast speed, got to touch and feel a real pumpkin and seeds, and learned the parts of a plant with a fun song. Bible: We finished up reviewing the Old Testament and we worked on creating an Old Testament Timeline of all the stories. Each student chose a story to draw about and wrote one thing they learned about God through the story. We also talked about our Bible verse: how kind words are like honey. I had them first try a little bit of baking cocoa which left a very bitter taste in their mouth and then honey. We talked about how our words can taste like bitter cocoa or honey depending on how we say them. Important Information 1.) Spelling Words next week: those, hope, spoke, froze, know, grown, coat, goal, over, older, obey, hold, hundred, high 2.) Bible Verse next week: "You must give him the name Jesus.
