Hope your kids are enjoying their Friday off of school and everyone stays safe and dry this weekend!
Here is a look at last week:
Reading: This week we talked about how we retell a story. We broke it apart in 5 parts on our hands: characters, setting, beginning, middle, and end of the story. We also talked about hard and soft c and g sounds in Phonics.
Writing: We talked about how ideas are everywhere when writing a story. The students worked on writing a story about last weekend. We have building our writing stamina and they wrote for an entire 20 minutes on Wednesday which made this teacher very proud.
Math: We learned about how we find patterns within word problems and look for ways to use repeated addition and skip counting to help solve the problem.
Social Studies: This week they has their first lesson of Social Studies with the other 2nd grade teacher Ms. Guiles. Every 4 weeks, they switch learning about Science or Social Studies. So they will have Ms. Guiles for the next 4 weeks during Social Studies class time. They studied maps and learned that most maps have a title, compass, and map key. We also learned how to give directions using north, south, east, and west.
Bible: We learned about Judges and the cycle of sin that the Israelites went through but how God also helps us when we call out to Him. We also talked about Saul becoming king of Israel. We talked about how God looks at the heart of the man rather than the outward appearance.
