Here's a look at our week:
Reading: We have been learning what a "descriptive" word is and how to tune into interesting words while we read. We read the book Max's Words about a boy who collects words. We also have collected words from a magazine to make our own sentences. We have begun a "Word Wall" of new words we learn throughout this year and will continue to add to this wall.
Writing: In writing we have continued to work on our personal narrative stories. We talked about how to create strong endings to our stories. We are continuing to build our writing stamina so we can write many stories.
Math: In Math this week, we finished chapter 1 and took a test. We also learned what Skip Counting is, and how to skip count by 2s, 5s, 10s, odds, or evens.
Science: We learned the special features of a Rain Forest Biome and compared a rain forest to a desert. The students learned what types of animals belong in each of these biomes and made poems about their creature and drawings of a rain forest.
Bible: We learned about Moses in Egypt and the 10 plagues. We learned that God took care of His people by leading them out of Egypt. We also learned that God helps us when we call out to Him.
Spelling Words: gym, city, circle, gone, age, center, giant, space, garden, cycle, square, oval
Bible Verse: "What pleases the Lord more? Sacrifices or obeying him? It is better to obey than to offer a sacrifice." 1 Samuel 15:22
